Now it is 25 years and 11 headmasters later. Many things have changed at Baptist High school. It is now a triple stream school (Form 1–6) averaging about 540 students…one of the largest along the Coast. Many students have attended over the years, and then left taking their rightful place in the Kenyan society.
These students are now found from Kisumu to Mombasa, and working in every aspect of the labour force of Kenya. Many fine teachers have been a part of the school throughout the years adding their influence to the overall growth of the students and the school.
One thing that has not changed from the very beginning is the underlying ministry and witness of the school in the community. The overall ministry has always been two-fold. First the providing of a quality education centered in a Christian environment to all students who attend and second to provide Bible studies and discipleship training to those students who are interested, both Baptist and non-Baptist alike.
Throught the years, students from the school have helped in starting churches and preaching points in Mombasa and outlying areas. This continues today, with students preaching and singing in local areas many Sundays during the school term, as well as conducting Bible studies at other local high schools.
So,25 years later the dream continues. Our pray is that those of us who are now a part of that dream will be able to see it continue to grow in the years to come and that in the year 2013 at the 50th anniversary, those in charge will truly be able to say that they are still part of the initial dream. |
